Tomorrow is early dismissal day. Students are dismissed at 12:12!!!!!
CENTRES
Students began their first round of centres today. Good work grade 6. All centre activites will be due on Sept. 16. Below is a list of week one centre activities:
SOCIAL 6A (6B had Science - check Mrs. Unchulenko's blog for details.)
Map Skills, Continental Quest, was due today. We corrected this as a class. Students were given their second map skills of the year. This will be due on Sept. 20. It is taking some time to get used to working with our atlas, so these "quick" activities are taking some time to complete. It will get easier!!!
MATH 6B
We began the class with a multiplication "conditioning."
Students then broke into centres:
Centre 1 - Place value assignment was corrected together and students had time to work on the Hand in place value assignment (BLM 1). This is due tomorrow!
Centre 2 - Students completed a place value "Cut and Paste Activity". This is also due tomorrow.
Centre 3 - Students played a place value card game with Mrs. Unch.
Note: If students made use of their centre time and their RTI time, they should NOT have any homework!
RTI
Students worked on theircentres, math homework and map skills. Teacher passes were given to students to work on ELA and Math concepts. Computer passes were issued to students typing their "Fears and Excitements"
WRITING 6B
Students had time to complete the typing of their "Fears and Excitements" writing assignment. This was due at 3:30. When they were done, they had free choice time doing All the Right Type, playing multiplication or place value games or reading. I was thrilled to see how many students chose to read!!!!
