Well, we've made it through the first full cycle of the school year. Students are appearing to be settled and feeling more comfortable in their new surrondings.
Reminders:
Math Homework: page 8 #1-18 (place value)
ELA Homework: Fears and Excitements writing assignment is due Wednesday at 3:30.
Social Homework: Map Skills - Continental Quest. This is due Wed. for 6A and Thurs. for 6B. 6A also has 4 questions due from the "Globes and the Earth Booklet".
School Pictures and Housekeeping Items
The day began with housekeeping items, and grade 6 getting their class pictures. What a fine looking group!!
ELA 6B
Centres were introduced to students during this period. Wow, there was a lot of information to absorb. Centre format, independent reading guidlines and cycle 1 centres were all explained during this period. We are ready to begin with our first cycle of centres tomorrow.
MATH 6B
The Problem Solver and the Math Operations Review booklet were returned to students. We then corrected the place value assignment that was due (#1-17). A lesson was taught on identifying the value of certain digits in a number. Page 8 (#1-18) was assigned for homework. Completion of homework was better today. It's still not perfect though!
