Thursday, May 17

Many students came to school this morning with some colour after the sun and wind at yesterday's track meet.  Congratulations to everyone who participated!  It was a great day!!!!

Notes/Reminders for Today
  • Students will be writing the math problem solving benchmark tomorrow!
  • Please bring $5.00 to cover the cost of the tri-fold board that will be used in our social Cultural Fair
Period One - ELA
After taking care of some housekeeping items, students listened to Chapter 9 and 10 of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  This novel is another favorite!

Period Two -Math

Students completed another sample problem solver during this period in preparation for the Problem Solving Benchmark Assessment that they will write tomorrow. The importance of communicating our thinking and making connections was stressed.  This assessment will be submitted to the division and marked by grade 6 teachers on May 31.

Period Three -French

The review assignment on ER, IR and RE verbs was due today.  Students that were done handed the assignment in and practised their knowledge of conjugating regular verbs by completing various on-line activities found on the classroom blog.  Those that were struggling or were not done had time to complete this assignment.

Period Four - Reading Buddies

Today was our last class with our reading buddies.  We had a fantastic wind-up with our buddies building eavestrough sundaes.  Yes, you read that correctly, we ate ice-cream sundaes out of a trough!  Thank you to Mrs. Combres for a wonderful year!

Period Five - Social 6A (6B had science with Ms. Smart - check her blog for details)

Students worked on completing their research today.  All research is due next week.  Several students began planning their display board that will be designed for our heritage fair.   Thanks to the students that have brought $5 for the tri-fold board. Please get this in as soon as possible - display board will not be given to students until their payment is made!!!!!
