Thursday, March 29 - Day 1

Notes/Reminders:
  • All incomplete assignments MUST be handed in promptly.  Students know what needs to be completed.
  • Math Homework due for tomorrow:  Multiplying Decimals Hand in (Calculating Products/Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000)
  • Ms. Chewka has sent home a note regarding the Standards Track Meet which will be held on April 25 in Yorkton. The forms need to be handed back by Monday, April 2
  • Map Skills are due tomorrow - " A Closer Look at Asia"
  • Current Events are due on Wednesday, April 4
  • French Calendars are due on Wednesday, April 4

9:00 - 10:30 - Centres
This was Day 1 of Cycle 18 centres. An overview of the centres can be found on the blog posting for Wednesday, March 28. Guided reading will continue to focus on our Mission Book Club info fiction graphic novels. Students are will continue to identify various reading strategies they use in their reading. ALL CENTRE ACTIVITIES ARE due on April 16.


10:30 - 11:10 - Read Aloud
We read from our class read aloud, "The Amazing International Space Station".  We learned many interesting details about the life of a 'naut in the ISS. We looked at text features including titles and captions.

11:15-12:15 - CWE
Students worked on their decision making skits in this writing period.


1:20 - 2:20 - Math 6B
We finished up multiplication of decimals.  Students worked on corrections from Extra Practice 4 and then had time to complete the hand-in assignment that was distributed yesterday.  (Calculating Products/Multiplying by 10, 100, 1000).  This hand-in is due tomorrow.  Students are now ready for dividing!!!!!


2:25 - 3:25 - Social 6A (6B had Science - check Ms. Smart's blog for details)


  1. Students had a few minutes to work on current events packages.  Don't forget, these are due on Wed. April 4. 
  2. Map Skills -  A Closer Look:  Asia was due today.  NO NEW MAP SKILLS WAS ASSIGNED!
  3. Students spent the rest of the class talking about the pre-contact indigenous people of the Americas.  We discussed how the environment influenced the lifestyle of the indigenous people.  (This included discussing the parts of environment and the elements of lifestyle)
