Period One - ELA 6B
Students worked on their descriptive writing assignment during this period. Their favourite places are beginning to come alive! Students are working on using rich language and vivid words. There will be time set aside during centres next week to assess their own writing and make improvements.
Our new unit on decimals was introduced today. Students reviewed place value of decimals, focusing on tenths, hundredths and thousandths. No homework was assigned. Period Three - French 6B
Students are created "weather cards". Each students was assigned a vocabulary term for weather and they are creating a flashcard which has a visual on the front and the term on the back. There will be more time to work on this during next day's French class.
Period Two Math 6B
Rewrite tests were handed back to students today. An average of the two exams will be used for the Term 3 report card. Period Four - Reading Buddies/Activity Day Meetings
Students read with their reading buddies during the first half hour of this period. Activity day meetings were held for the remainder of the class. Students were given information and instructions and had an opportunity to ask questions.

Current Events packages were due today. I will be expecting the incomplete assignments to come in tomorrow! We spent the remainder of the period watching the video, "A Solemn Understanding". Students answered a series of questions as they watched the video. We talked about viewing with a purpose and writing answers in our own words. Good work, grade 6!
