Friday, March 23, 2012 - Day 3


IMPORTANT NOTE: JUNIOR GLEE PERFORMS AT THE MUSIC FESTIVAL ON MONDAY. STUDENTS ARE TO MEET IN THE CHOIR ROOM AT 1:15. THE PERFORMANCE WILL BE HELD AT 1:15 AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH.
9:00 - 10:30 - Centres
This was Day 2 of Cycle 17 centres.  Please pick up your centre activities if you are absent.An overview of the centres can be found on the blog posting for Tuesday, March 20. Guided reading will continue to focus on our Mission Book Club info fiction graphic novels. Students are looking at various reading strategies. ALL CENTRE ACTIVITIES ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29.

10:30 - 11:10 - Bullying Presentation
Ms. Steffenson came and spoke to the grade 6 class about bullying.  Students were very responsive and shared some very insightful thoughts about bullying. 

11:15-12:15 - French 6B

Before we started our calendar work, a class discussion was held on Facebook etiquette (digital citizenship).  About half of the grade 6 students have a Facebook account and there have been some concerns raised about postings of status updates, pictures and comments.  We talked about the importance of using Facebook wisely.  A lot of good discussion arose from this conversation.
The remainder of the class was devoted to our French calendars.  We will have 2 more working classes and then the calendars will be due!

1:20- 2:20 - Math
We corrected questions #11-14 from the textbook assignment.  Students then had a few minutes to complete the Multiplying Decimals by a Whole Number Hand In assignment.  This is due on Monday if students did not get it done in class!
We started our study of "Multiplying Decimals Less Than One by a Whole Number"  We explored some multiplication patterns which will assist us in our multiplying.

2:25 - 3:25 -  Social 6A
 Students completed a Treaty Senteo Quiz to wrap up our study of treaties.  The Benefits of Treaty Writing Assignment was due today as well.  Upcoming due dates:  (Current Events - due April 4) and (Map Skills - A Closer Look at Asia - due March 29)
