Friday, January 11 - Day 6

 

No buses ran today.  The grade 6 classes were combined today for a total of 29 students. 

The Jr. girls basketball tournament was cancelled for tonight, but it sounds like it is ON for tomorrow. 

Here's how the day looked.....

HOMEWORK:

MATH

Practice Problem 77 is not due, but you may want to work on it if you like.

ELA

Centres were due today,  Fri. Jan 11. Don't forget about comprehension journal activities and your spelling discovery!  If you were absent you MUST be prepared to hand them in on Monday.
"My Favourite Place"  - we will be working on these intently on Monday!

SOCIAL

Map Skills - 6A due Monday, Jan. 14 ; 6B due Monday, Jan 15

Current Events - 6A due Jan. 22; 6B due Jan. 21-

Latitude/Longitude Booklet - 6B - pages 9, 10 and 11 are overdue if you aren't already done this;page 13 and 14 have also been assigned.  They are due on Thursday, Jan. 17.    6A-pages 7, 9 and 10 are overdue if you have not completed this, page 10 and 11 were due TODAY and pages 13 and 14 were assigned today (they are due on Wednesday, January 16)

HEALTH

"Football Bowl" - first 2 pages are due on January 14

FRENCH

OUR DAY IN A NUTSHELL......

ELA

ALL cycle 10 centres were due today.  Students handed these in.  If you were absent, the expectation is that you are prepared to hand them in Monday morning!
Cycle 11 centres were introduced to students.  If you were absent, you will have to rely on the instruction pages in the centre baskets.  This weeks centres are quite straight forward.  Students worked on "My Favourite Place" for the rest of the class.  Students will have 2 more classes to work on this. 

MATH 6B
Problem Solving was the focus of today's math class.  A "Problem Solver" on the strategy "Make an Organized List", was completed together as a group.  A photocopy of the answer key is attached to your homework package to refer to if you were absent.  Students were then given a Practice Problem.  There will be time to complete this on Monday.

SOCIAL 6

This was a working period for students:

1. "A Closer Look at Africa" is due next social class, so students were asked to make sure they complete this.
2. Page 13 and 14 of the latitude and longitude booklet were assigned.  This will be due on Wed. Jan. 16 (6A) and Thurs. Jan. 17 (6B)  There will be some time to work on this during next social class!
3. Current Events-if students were done the above 2 activities, they were asked to continue working on their current events packages. CURRENT EVENTS IS DUE ON JANUARY 21 FOR 6B AND JANUARY 22 for 6A.

PHYS. ED WITH MS. STRAKER
