Students began cycle 2 of centres today. ll centre activites will be due on Sept. 28. Below is a list of week one centre activities:
SOCIAL 6A (6B had Science - check Mrs. Unchulenko's blog for details.)
Map Skills, Oceans of Information was due today. We corrected this as a class. Students were given their second map skills of the year, Ten are True. This will be due on Sept. 28. Students then worked through 2 pages of their Globes and the Earth Book, looking at the definition of a map. Class ended with a video, "Globes and their uses." Don't forget to keep working on those current events. They are due on October 4.
MATH 6B
We began the class with a multiplication "conditioning."
Students then broke into centres:
Centre 1 - Place value assignment was corrected together and students had time to work on the Hand in assignment on comparing and ordering numbers (BLM 4). This is due tomorrow!
Centre 2 - Students were introduced to the "millions" period in this station. Students practised reading and writing numbers up to 999 999 999.
Centre 3 - Students played a place value card game with Mrs. Unch. The millions period was added.
RTI
All students reported to their RTI classes today to complete a survey on bullying.
ELA 6B
We continued our study of "Tales" We reviewed the word web created yesterday and then began the class tale, "The Lore of the Unicorn." Students completed a predicting sheet, practising to make "grade 6" predictions. We then read the story together as a class.
