Friday, September 14 - Day 3

STUDENTS SHOULD BE COMING HOME EVERY NIGHT WITH THEIR AGENDAS AND HOMEWORK FOLDERS. ALL IMPORTANT NOTES AND HOMEWORK ARE KEPT IN THESE. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO CHECK THEM OUT!


Reminders:
 
BRING A TOONIE FOR TERRY ON MONDAY!!!!!The annual Terry Fox Run/Walk will take place during period 3 on Monday.  Please dress for the weather! A hamburger lunch will be provided for all students! 

Immunization forms went home with students today.  These must be returned by September 20.

Math Homework:  Expanded Form Assignment #1-24 (even) due Monday!
Centres Homework: Please complete any centres that you did not complete during centre time today! ALL CENTRE ACTIVITIES ARE DUE ON SEPTEMBER 19
Social Homework: Map Skills 6B: Continental Quest is due tomorrow. 6A: Oceans of Information is due on Sept. 20.

CENTRES
Today was "Day 3" of centres.  All centre activites will be due on Sept. 19. Below is a list of week one centre activities:


HEALTH 6B
Students worked on the booklet, "Good Grooming..." We will finish this next class
 
SOCIAL 6A (6B had Science - check Mrs. Unchulenko's blog for details.)
Students were introduced to their current events packages today. We discussed the format of the current events and map labelling rules were explained.  Students had the last few minutes to begin their first current events.

MATH 6B
Students completed a mad minute.  Multiplication skills are certainly improving!  We then continued our study of place value.  Students took notes on standard form, written form and expanded form and then practiced writing standard numbers in expanded form and numbers written in expanded form in standard form.  Students grasped this concept easily.  HOMEWORK:  Handout p. 9 #1-24 (even numbers)  This is due on Monday 


RTI
Students worked on their centres, math homework and map skills. Teacher passes were given to students to work on ELA and Math concepts. Computer passes were issued to students typing their "Fears and Excitements"

FRENCH 6B
French vocabulary that has been learned was reviewed.  (Comment t'appelles-tu?, Comment ca va?)  Students learned Au revoir, A tout a l'heure, Adieu and A Demain.  Students were put in pairs and created an oral presentation using ALL of the terms and phrases they have learned this year.  Great job grade 6!
