Wednesday, March 21 - Day 1

TOMORROW IS BLAST FROM THE PAST DAY.  WE WILL BE REVISITING THE DECADES OF DAYS GONE BY!

9:00 - 10:30 - Centres
This was Day 1 of Cycle 17centres. An overview of the centres can be found on the blog posting for Tuesday, March 20.  Guided reading will continue to focus on our Mission Book Club info fiction graphic novels.  Students are looking at various reading strategies.    ALL CENTRE ACTIVITIES ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29..

10:30 - 11:10 - Career Work Experience
Decision making was the focus of lesson  today. Students were divided into groups and given a scenario.  Some of the scenarios were healthy decisions and some of them were risky decisions.  Students are preparing a skit that demonstrates the decision making process understanding that decision making is an important part of career planning!

11:15-12:15 - Social 6B
Students will be missing social tomorrow due to a presentation so we combined our writing and social classes.  Students completed their map skills, "Geography ABC's which would have been due tomorrow.  They then worked on their Benefits of Treaty Writing assignment.  If students were done both of these assignments, they had time to work on their current events package.  There will be a few minutes to complete this on Monday!

1:20 - 2:20 - Math 6B
Yikes!  Over half of the class was NOT done their math homework today.  I am concerned with the lack of work ethic.  Students will not understand some of the new concepts we are learning about if they do not complete the practice.  Therefore, students that were not done the assignment went and worked on this with Mrs. Hussey while the students that were done corrected the assignment together.  (there was only one boy left in the room for correcting......).  The rest of the math assignment (page 97 and 98 #11, 12, 13, 14) was assigned for homework - please ensure this is completed for tomorrow!!!!!!!

2:25 - 3:25 - Social 6A (6B had Science - check Ms. Smart's blog for details)
1. Map Skills - Four Letter Geography was due today.  A Closer Look at Asia was assigned. It is due on Thursday, March 29.
2.  Students spent the rest of the class finishing their Benefits of Treaty writing assignment.  This is due for tomorrow for anyone that did not complete it during class time.
3. Students had time to work on their current events packages once they were done.
