Monday, March 12 - Day 6
Period One - ELA 6B
Cycle 15 centre activities were due Students shared their spelling Discovery and then listened to the centres explanation for our next round of centres. The summary of cycle 16 centres is posted above. Finally, students were updated on what is happening tomorrow, as I am away at an inservice.
Period Two - Math 6B
Hand In Assignments - Place Value of Decimals and Equivalent Decimals that were completed on Friday were handed in today.
We worked on estimating products and quotients. Students reviewed estimating strategies of front-end estimation, compatible numbers and decimal benchmarking. We also reviewed the terms product and quotient. We worked through some examples together. If you were absent, you can refer to pages 92 and 93 of the text. The homework assignment was explained to students, but nothing was assigned. Students will work on this during tomorrow's class.
Period Three - French 6A (6B had Phys. Ed with Mrs. Chewka)
We used the first part of French class to take care of some Social Studies. Students got their current events packages back today and were given a new current events package that is due on April 4. (Some students may have already picked this up!) We also talked about the writing assignment that students are going to work on in tomorrow's social class. Don't forget that map skills, "A Closer Look at South America" is due tomorrow!
The remainder of the class was devoted to calendar catch-up. Students were told they should have all required information on their calendars by next class which is Thursday. WEATHER CARDS WERE DUE TODAY IF YOU WERE ABSENT!
Period Four - Social 6B
Current Events packages from February were returned to students. March Current Events packages were distributed and discussed. Students had 20 minutes to work on them. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN DUE DATE. They will be due on April 4.
We discussed the benefits of treaty centre activity that was completed during cycle 15 centres. Students will use this activity to complete a writing assignment on treaty benefits that we will begin next day. A reminder was given that map skills, "A Closer Look at South America is due on Wednesday"
