Period One - ELA
We spent the class concentrating on improving sentence fluency in our writing. We looked at samples of exemplary sentence fluency and poor sentence fluency. Student used a set of guiding questions to help them idenfity how they can craft well-built sentences, vary the sentence type, capture smooth and rhythmic flow and how they can break the "rules" to create fluency.
Assignment: Students were given a "Sentence Fluency Practice" to complete. This is NOT homework!
Period Two - Health
We continued to look at stereotypes. We discussed some typical fairy tale stereotypes (a princess, the prince, the step mother etc) We looked at TV stereotypes and identified the different types of stereotypes (age, gender, culture etc). Students were divided into groups and designed a sketch and description of a sterotypical character from TV (we looked at a grandmother, a police officer, a scientist, a villain, a hero and a bully). Students shared their stereotypical descriptions with the class.
Period Three - Writing 6B
Students had the period to work on their personal narritives. They completed the pre-writing graphic orgainizer and many started writing their first draft. ALL PRE-WRITING SHOULD BE COMPLETED FOR TOMORROW! We have been concentrating on sentence fluency, attention grabbing sentences and well crafted topic sentences. We will work on this again tomorrow!
Period Four - Math 6B
We reviewed the definition of Prime and Composite numbers. Students wrote down the definitions in their handouts. We then watched a short video to reinforce the concept of prime and composite numbers.
Students were given the following textbook assignment:

We filled in the KWL chart on what we know about Brazil and what we want to know about Brazil. Students were then assigned a set of questions on the story. We will finish these on Thursday.
