Tuesday, November 13 - Day 1

Report Cards go home on Thursday, November 15!

Don't forget that interviews are next week. I look forward to meeting with parents.

ELA HOMEWORK:
Centres will be due on November 20
Personal Narratives were assigned today. No due date has been set.

MATH HOMEWORK:
Extra Practice 7 (order of operations) was due today.
There will be a math test on Nov. 20 (Multiples, Factors, Divisibility Rules, Prime and Composite Numbers, Order of Operations, Integers)


Social Homework:

Geography ABC's 6B due is November 14
All Wet - 6A is due on November 21
6A Current events are due on Nov. 29; 6B Current events are due November

ELA 6B
Students worked on Day 1, Cycle 8 Centres.  These centres will be due on November 20.  If you were absent, today's centres have been pulled and attached to your homework package.  As well students were told that they need to complete 2 comprehension journal activities for term 2.




 
HEALTH 6B
Decision Making Self-Assessments were returned to students.  We talked about how positive influences help us make good decisions.  There is no health homework if you were absent today.

SOCIAL 6A
1. We corrected map skills, "Geography ABC's today." There were many students that WERE NOT done today.   Students were then assigned "All Wet" It is due on November 21.
3.  We continued to look at how Geography Shapes a Place.  We watched a short video clip on Brazil and then discussed how Brazil's geography influences the lives of the people.


MATH 6B
NOTE:  There will be a math test on November 20.
1.  Students wrote definitions for expression and evaluate in their math glossaries. 
2. Order of operations" was the next topic of the day. Students haned in their Extra Practice 7. 
3.  Students were introduced to Integers.  We watched 2 videos.  They can be viewed below. 

Students were given the following textbook assignment.  Only question 3 was assigned.  If you were absent, you can do this tomorrow.
ASSIGNMENT:Page 76   #3,4,5,6 (exclude tiles), 7, 8, 9, (use step by step) 10a.

WRITING
Students were introduced to our new unit. "Looking for Answers".  We looked at the poem, "The Drum" and completed some discussion questions (both of these are attached in your homework folder if you were absent).  A Personal Narrative assignment was then introduced to the class.  Please review the instructions if you were absent.
