CENTRES ARE DUE TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 27 - Be prepared to hand in spelling (yellow), newspaper sentence, science (pink), mystery (blue), creative writing (brown), your independent reading log and comprehensional journal activities. A list of Cycle 2 centres is listed below!
Social Homework: Map Skills 6B: Ten are True is due October 1. 6A: Ten Are True is due on Sept. 28. Current Events packages are due on Oct. 4 for 6A and Oct. 5 for 6B
ELA 6B
Several marked assignments were handed back to students. They were required to file these in the proper section of their binders. Sentence structure was the focus of the remainder of the class. Students were given a list of "poorly" written sentences from our "Fears and Excitements" writing project. We worked through the first 4 sentences together, discussing why they were not well written. For TOMORROW, students are to correct ANY 7 sentences by rewriting them. DON'T FORGET CENTRES ARE DUE TOMORROW!!!!!

Comparing large numbers was the focus of today's lesson. Students completed BLM 6. This was handed in BEFORE the end of class. If you absent, please complete this and hand it in. Students were also given a review page for the test on Friday. (Check-up). They will have 1/2 the class to work on it tomorrow.
SOCIAL 6A (6B had Science - Check Mrs. Unchulenkos blog for details)
Students worked on their current events for the first 20 minutes. Students brainstormed "globe" words and came up with a definition of the word, globe. We then completed a VENN diagram which outlined the similarities and differences between globes and the earth. If you were absent, the VENN diagram is attached to your homework package. Don't forget that map skills is due on Friday and Current Events is due on October 4.
Reading Buddies/Read Aloud
Today was our first reading buddy day. Students were paired with their buddies had the class to get to know their buddies. Class ended with our read aloud.
RTI
Teacher passes were issued to students for checking binder organization. Others worked on completing centre activities, finishing the sentence editing activity, social map skills, or current events.
French 6B
We continued with our study of French numbers. Students reviewed the "important" numbers, and practiced making large numbers. As an assingment students put numbers on cards and then wrote them in French. These cards will be used as a French Centre next day.
