Period One - ELA

  1. Read aloud - students listened to Chapter 3 of "Bridge to Terabithia".

  2. Sentence Fluency - students had time to work on their sentence fluency practice. This needs to be completed by Monday.

  3. Centres - we met in our new centre groups today. New centre activities were explained and the expectations for comprehension journal activities and independent reading were also discussed.

We are looking forward to getting back into our centres routine tomorrow!

Period Two - Health

We continued our look at stereotypes today and have been talking about the way in which our relationships are affected by"painting a group of people with the same brush". Today we talked about how certain groups of people are stereotyped on TV and watched a couple of video clips of TV stereotypes. We will be working on a WANTED poster promoting awareness of the dangers of making assumptions about someone based on stereotypes.

Period Three - French

Students shared their "Present a Person" assignments today. We will finish these next French day. Our next unit will be Le Calendrier. Do you know how to say the days of the week in French?

Period Four - Math

Our study of Prime and Composite Numbers continued today. We corrected the textbook assignment that was due (#9-15) and then divided into two groups.

Group one worked on a Prime and Composite hand-in assignment while group two played "Go For 50", an activity to reinforce factors and prime/composite numbers. We will finish both of these activities tomorrow.

Period Five - Social

Students had time to work on current events. Don't forget these are due next Wednesday!

We finished reading "My Story: Vinicius's Game Plan", discussing how Vinicius's natural environment influences his life. Students were assigned questions based on the reading. These were not assigned as homework.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE SCIENCE TEST TOMORROW!!!! GOOD LUCK!
