It was nice to meet with parents and students this evening. I am looking forward to another evening of interviews tomorrow! I apologize for the late posting......
Period One - ELA 6B
Students filled in a form that they will share at interviews, identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
We continued our study of "Hopes, Dreams and Challenges" focussing on the "Think Aloud" reading strategy. We discussed the "think alouds" students made for the article on Anh. Students were then assigned the rest of the reading and think alouds on the remaining three individuals. This is due tomorrow!
Period Two - Health 6B
Students finished watching the video, "The Dangers of A Single Story", discussing the main ideas presented by the speaker, Chimamanda Adiche. Students were then given a written assignment. This is to be handed in for assessment. We had a great discussion on stereotypes and being aware of the 'single story'.
Period Three - French 6B
Students had today's class to work on their "present a person" assignment. Most are getting very close to completion. Students will have time on Friday to complete this. Students will be presenting their person on Thursday, November 24.
Period Four and Five - Math and Social 6B
We corrected the textbook homework questions 8-15 that were due today. Students then worked in stations. The first station played "Multiplication War" reinforcing multiplication facts. The second group completed multiples activities on the computer. The third station worked on a hand in assignment. There will be some time to work on this hand in assignment tomorrow. It will be due on Friday!
Students had time to work on their Current Events package in social studies. This is due on November 30. Students may want to take this home over the next week or two as there in order to manage their time!
